Ty Jobe McCollum, 19 years old, born on October 19, 2006 left his earthly home on April 15, 2026 to be with his Lord and Savior. Ty was a devoted Christian whose faith was the cornerstone of his life. He honored God in everything he did, whether it be playing football or bull riding. His Godly example was and continues to be an inspiration to his family, friends, teammates, and community.
Ty was the son of Kati and Philip Swan and Daniel and Jessica McCollum. He grew up attending Hatley School where he was loved by teachers, classmates, and teammates. He was a talented and dedicated athlete with a passion for football. Ty was a proud member of the Hatley Tiger football team, wearing the number 15 jersey. After football games, you could find him in the endzone spending a moment in prayer with God. Ty was in the Hatley High School Hall of Fame and an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His attitude, faith, and dedication was contagious among his teammates and classmates. After high school, Ty attended Itawamba Community College where he planned to become an electrical engineer.
After high school, Ty found a love for bullriding. Ty loved spending time at his Nana and Pop’s house (his favorite place on earth) from the time he was little up until his last days. It didn’t matter if he was fishing in the lake, swimming, or just playing a game of pool with Cole and Jarrett. He also enjoyed picking on his best friend and sister, Charlea Kate. He also had a passion for working on vehicles. He often would even ask for car parts for his Christmas or Birthday gifts. Ty spent weekends and free time with his girlfriend, Riley.
His favorite verse comes from Isaiah 54:17, “no weapon forged against you will prevail”. Ty’s unwavering faith, kind heart, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of everyone around him. He was known for his smile, strong work ethic, and Godly example.
