Amory

Timothy Edward Ervin, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Columbus, Mississippi, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 22, 1949, in Greenville, MS, he was the son of Grover Allen and Helen Higginbotham Ervin.

Tim graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland where he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from University of Mississippi Law School. Following law school, Tim moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi, where he began his legal career practicing with Mr. Dick Booth before establishing his own law office.

Tim devoted his professional life to the practice of law and to public service. Early in his career, while in private practice, he served as Attorney for the City of Aberdeen before being elected Chancery Judge for the First Chancery District of Mississippi. He fulfilled the duties of the bench with integrity, wisdom and fairness. His steady temperament and thoughtful judgment earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike. Following his retirement from the bench, Tim returned to private practice and was again called to serve as Attorney for the City of Aberdeen before his retirement. He also dedicated many years of service to the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings & Loan of Aberdeen and Oak Hill Academy in West Point.

An avid outdoorsman, Tim found great joy in hunting and fishing. Time spent in the woods was among his happiest, especially when shared with family, lifelong friends, and the many beloved dogs who were his constant companions. Those quiet mornings and long afternoons outdoors created treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Above all, Tim loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Lynda; son, Chad Ervin and wife, Susan, of Aberdeen; daughter, Whitney Harrington, and husband, Clint, of Amory; daughter Christen Moore (Joel) of Columbus; son Grant Thomas (Luis) of Madrid, Spain; son Evan Thomas (Sydney) of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren Morgan Mitchell and Walker Mitchell of Kings Point, New York; Lula and Lincoln Ellis Moore of Columbus; sister, Salli Long (Wilson) of Tupelo; brother, Rick Ervin (Mary) of Nicaragua; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Helen Ervin.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory. No public service is planned.

Tim’s life of service, love, and devotion to family, friends, and community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
