Amory

Tammy Lee Houston, aged 58, went home to be in the arms of our Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Tammy was a woman of profound faith, a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and a compassionate nurse who dedicated her life to the service and care of others.

Born Tammy Lee Simpson on March 7, 1968, to the late Danny Lee and Elaine Simpson, she grew up in Brighton, Tennessee, and graduated from Munford High School in 1986. Driven by a deep desire to help others, she went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma from Bevill State Community College in 1993. Tammy built a fulfilling career in nursing, holding a very special place in her heart for special needs pediatric and adult patients, whom she cared for with unmatched gentleness and grace.

Tammy was a devoted Christian whose strength in her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was always happy to share the Word of the Lord, and she never hesitated to pray with and for anyone in need. Her unique ability to lift others up with encouraging words left a lasting impact on every life she touched. Outside of her ministry and career, Tammy was deeply passionate about animal rescue, always showing immense kindness and love to animals in need.

Above all else, Tammy was a devoted mother and Mimi. She loved her children and grandchildren more than could ever be expressed through words, and she made sure they always felt the vast depth of that love. Her family brought her tremendous, undeniable joy.

Tammy leaves behind her beloved husband, Bryan Houston; her two sons, Colton McGough (Nickey) and Jordan Gray (Erica); and her three cherished grandchildren, Max McGough, Lorelai Gray, and her “bonus granddaughter” Eden Joyner. She is also survived by her brother, Shane Simpson (April); her nieces, Hunter Anthony and Haley Simpson; and her nephew, Cale Simpson. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Danny and Elaine Simpson, and her first husband, Daryl McGough.

While it is difficult to understand this sudden loss, her family takes comfort knowing she would want them to trust and lean on God’s timing, grace, and perfect plan. Her beautiful spirit and legacy of love will live on forever through her family, friends, and the countless lives she bettered.
