Sharon Burks

Sharon Faye Maxey Burks, 75, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at her residence in Amory.   She was born on July 17, 1947 in Hatley to Arthur and Alice Frederick Maxey Rickers.  She graduated Hatley High School in 1965 and she worked for Red Kap for many years as a seamstress.  Prior to her retirement, she worked for Fred’s Dollar Store in Amory for 17 years where she developed many lasting friendships with her customers whom she loved.  Sharon was a member of the Cason Baptist Church and would generously open her home to anyone in need.  She like to work word puzzles, reading, and being with her family especially her grandchildren.  

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Rob Sargent officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.  

She is survived by two daughters, Miranda Tartt McClanahan of Amory, and Leslie Giadone (Joe) of Glastonbury, CT; one brother, Larry Maxey (Linda) of Amory; grandchildren, Torie Tartt (Jacob Davis), Jaci McClanahan, Leo Giadone, Natalie Giadone, and Ava Giadone; nephew, Dr. John Maxey (Tracy); and great niece, Elizabeth Maxey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gaila Maxey Turan; her love, Arthur Palmer House; and aunt, Faye Fears.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
