Amory- Samuel Marlin Allen, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the NMMC in Tupelo. He was born in Sumiton, AL to Samuel Verdo and Mavis Guyton Allen on March 6, 1947. He married Wanda Jones on February 14, 1970. Samuel honorably served in the United States Army as a helicopter mechanic. He spent most of his working career at Sprint Boats, Nautic Star and currently Avid Boats. He enjoyed piddling on small engines and for a number years he worked on small engines for the public. Samuel enjoyed visiting with people, never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off of his back. Most of all, he loved God and always looked for the opportunity to encourage others in the Lord. He was a faithful member of New Vision Worship Center in Nettleton.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Allen, Amory; mother, Mavis Allen, Amory; son, Mark Allen (Elizabeth), Amory; sisters, Mary Lou Laney (Dewayne), Hatley, Wanda Jean Pannell (Doug), Hatley, Belinda Jones (Gary), Verona and Pat Allen (Sam), GA; brothers, Randy Allen (Dale), Bigbee, Ronnie Allen (Hazell), Amory and Rickey Allen (Ann), AR; grandchildren, Beth Steele (Calvin), Becker, Brandon Allen, Amory, Michyl Riggs, Dakota Riggs and Ann-Marie Vaniman; great grandsons, Braxton Allen and Peyton Steele, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a son, Sam Allen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at New Vision Worship Center in Nettleton with Bro. Bobby Allred and Bro. Jesse Strider officiating.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from noon until 1:45 PM.
