Ethel Ruth Rea Farrar, 93, passed away from this life on Monday, August 18, 2025, at her home in Bigbee. The youngest of 7 children, she was born in Wren to Jefferson Davis and Mattie Augustus Williams Rea. She attended school in Wren and was the widow of Mr. Lawrence Green Farrar whom she married in November 1950. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the area garment industry along with being a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her yard which she proudly kept in immaculate condition, and she was a member of St. Union Primitive Baptist Church in Amory.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Rob Sargent officiating. Burial will be in the Amory Masonic Cemetery.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Lawrence Ray Farrar (Sharon), Nettleton; her daughter-in-law, Julie Farrar; 2 granddaughters, Tracy Farrar Box (Jody), Amory and Amanda Farrar Pannell (Jason), Nettleton; 4 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Farrar McVay (Ellis), Amory, Maddie Grace Pannell (Jeffrey), Nettleton, Marlie Hester (Brady), Nettleton, and Mason Pannell, Nettleton; and three great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Jake, and Jamison McVay, all of Amory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Green Farrar; and her siblings, Ruble Rea, Sr., Christine Carpenter, Dora Conwill, Clara Dykes, Bud Rea, and Mattie Frances Stewart.
Pallbearers will be her great nephews, Matthew Dykes, Levi Dykes, Zach Cresap, Daniel Dykes, Keith Parham, and Scott Parham. Her nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 until 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
