Robbie Stephens

December 20, 1930 — September 20, 2023

Amory

Robbie Meryle Bolding Stephens, 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at her home in Amory.  She was born on December 20, 1930 in Amory to John Thomas and Joy Culp Bolding.  Growing up in Amory, she graduated Amory High School in 1948.  In 1949, she married Joe Stephens and they were the proud parents of four sons, Rickey, Joe D., Tommy, and Bobby.  From 1947 to 1961, she worked at Amory Garment Company before joining Gilmore Memorial Hospital.  Robbie was part of one of the first graduating classes from Itawamba Junior College LPN program.  She loved her work at Gilmore helping countless people and making tons of friends.  In 1974, Joe was transferred with the Frisco, BN Railroad moving the family to Springfield, MO.  This was a difficult move leaving their first home, but they made many friends in Springfield.  She worked for Cox Medical Center and retired in 1992.  They made their home in Table Rock Lake, MO until moving back to Amory in 2009, although many memories and enjoyable times were made in the mountains and on the lake.  She was a member of the Amory Primitive Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary #25, and the Young At Heart Senior Group.  She loved people and her family fiercely.  She enjoyed eating out on Saturday nights, listening to country music, and connecting with old friends and family via the internet.  She collected angels, humorously adding it took a lot of angels to watch over her.  She and her husband traveled extensively for which he had a saying, “We are not lost; every road has an end.”
