John Richard Williams, 79, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Richard was born on July 29, 1946, in Mississippi to the late Cecil Herman Williams and Ruby Cantrell Williams. A lifelong resident of the Amory area, he graduated from Amory High School and began working at Western Auto shortly after graduation. On December 30, 1966, he married the love of his life, Janyce Moon, beginning a marriage built on faith, love, and unwavering devotion.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Richard was a dedicated member and deacon of Becker Baptist Church, where he served his church family for many years. He also took great pride in serving his community as a member of the Greenbrier Cemetery Board, helping preserve a place that meant so much to generations of local families.

Richard was known as a man who could do anything he set his mind to. He was respected for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the integrity with which he lived his life. Larry Chism, who was truly the brother he never had, and Richard had a bond that was built on years of loyalty, laughter, and countless memories.

Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, faithful Christian, trusted friend, and loving family man. Richard’s family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and find comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into his eternal home.

Richard is survived by his Wife; Janyce Williams, Son; Rusty Williams (Cindy), Daughters; Penny Clay (Alan), Tammy Brown (Dave), Grandchildren; Josh, Kara, Jessica, Kayla, Kirk, Cody, Connor, Laken, Great-Grandchildren; Jenna, Casyn, Adalynn,Trinity, Caelynne, Lylah, Logan, Kairi, Kade, KB, a Friend that was more like a Brother, Larry Chism, and a host of Cousins.

He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Becker Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Green officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 1p.m. until the service hour.
