Lillian Marie “Reeci” Armstrong, 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at her home in Amory.  As an Air Force child, she was born in Ft. Worth, TX on September 19, 1953 to Charles and Polly Harris Gillespie.  Reeci grew up in Red Bay, AL and worked as a nurse for many years for Drs. Odom and Sisson.  Before retirement, she was in pharmaceutical work setting up retail pharmacies.  She married David Armstrong and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  Reeci was absolutely obsessed with the St. Louis Cardinals and had the keen ability to remember stats from years of watching the Cardinals.  She loved to bass fish and enjoyed helping her daughter, Donna, decorate for weddings.  Above all, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren all of whom affectionately called her, Gigi.  

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Dempsey Rowland officiating.  Burial will follow in the Haughton Memorial Park.

 

She is survived by her husband, David Armstrong; one son, David Robinson (Amy) of Amory; two daughters, Donna Gray (Kevin) of Amory and Manda McClure (J.L.) of Ackerman; an adopted daughter, Nancy Dickinson of Wichita Falls, TX; two brothers, Mike Gillespie (Joan) of Iowa and Paul Gillespie (Debbie) of Amory; two sisters, Lynn Shields (Danny) of Amory and Kathy Birchfield of Tupelo; grandchildren, Gunnar Gray (Shannon), Garrett Gray (Clara), Clay Grissom (Caitlyn), Chloe Grissom, Mary Lace Robinson, Gracie Kate Gray, and Gannon Gray; and 5 great grandchildren, Swayze Ruth Gray, Rider Gray, J.P. Gray, Ryker Grissom, and Rosie Gray.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Cheryl Barksdale.

 

Pallbearers will be Gunnar Gray, Gannon Gray, Clay Grissom, and Garrett Gray.  Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.

 

Visitation will be on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until service time.

 

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN
