Arthur Paul Dickerson, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his residence in Smithville, MS due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and prostate cancer. He was born on July 27, 1943, in Fairhope, AL. Paul began his career working for Navy Audit in Pensacola, FL. He then went to work for Winkler and Assoc. in Tupelo, MS. He then worked for Parker Truck Line as comptroller. When it was sold, he became manager/co-owner of IBCO Truck Line, Inc. When IBCO was sold in 1991, he acquired an accounting firm in Amory, MS from which he retired in 2007. He was very active in Maywood Christian Camp in Hamilton, AL as a counselor, Bible teacher, and co-director for 33 years. He was also the treasurer on the camp board of directors. He was on the Advisory Board for Magnolia Bible College. Paul proudly told people of his paper route as an 11-year-old in Nettleton for 5 years so that he could earn his own money as a young preteen/teen. He graduated from Nettleton High School at the age of 16 in 1960. He attended Itawamba Junior College from 1963-1965 and graduated from MS State University in 1967. Paul was an active and faithful member and elder of the Amory Church of Christ where he taught Bible classes and filled in preaching at times. He married Jean Harlow on June 22, 1962, in Fayette, AL and they were married for 51 years before her death. He was a big MS State athletics fan, especially Bulldog baseball, going to many games as a season pass holder since the 1970s. He and Tim followed them to Omaha several times over the years. He also hunted and fished a large portion of his life.
Paul was very smart, level-headed, fair, and honest. He was a loving daddy and papaw who taught his children and grandchildren to love and serve the Lord faithfully by his words and his Godly example. He was a very faithful and loving husband to his wife and proved it when she had breast cancer and was by her side day and night waiting on her every need until her passing in 2014. He will be greatly missed by many.
