Opal Herring

Wren

Opal Price Herring, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at her residence.  She was born on September 30, 1939 in Rison, Arkansas to the late Ados Thaniel and Ollie Rushing Price.  Opal was a graduate of Kingsland High School in Kingsland, Arkansas.  She married the love of her life, T.L. Herring, June 17, 1960.  They were blessed with 5 children.  Opal was a very doting mother and grandmother and was a caretaker to each one that came her way.  She never let you leave without asking if you wanted something to eat, that's one place where you knew you were always welcome, her kitchen.  She and T.L. really enjoyed the outdoors and spent many years camping and fishing at Blue Bluff Lake on the Tenn Tom and Sardis Lake.  It was often said that Opal could outfish anyone.  She was a devout Christian and a Godly example of both a wife and mother.  Opal and T.L. were members for 35 years at Tupelo Church of God and current members of Calvary Assembly in Tupelo.  Opal's legacy of love and a strong Christian influence will continue to live on through all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

Opal is survived by her husband of 65 years, T.L. Herring, Wren; daughters, Tammy Kent (Bobby), Nettleton, Stephanie Hester (Michael), Nettleton and Kristy Tackett (Scottie), Nettleton; sons, Terry Herring (Cindy), Baldwyn and Loyd Herring (Sheri), Wren; sister, Mary Ballard, New Hope; grandchildren, Tanner Herring (Stephanie), Caledonia, Auston Herring (Bailey), Amory, Landon Herring (Caitlin), Amory, Michele Myrick (Dillon), Nettleton, Kelsey Tackett, Nettleton, Anna McBride (Cole), Kosciusko, Chance Herring, Amory, Kaleigh Tackett (Bryson), Nettleton and Thaniel Tackett (Halle), Madison, AL; 12 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Opal's family would like to say a special thanks to Genitive Hospice for staying until the end, her caregivers and her husband who cared for her up until he was unable to anymore.  Charleigh, Brianna and Kristy and all special friends who came and assisted when we needed them, we are so grateful for the love you've shown mom and us during this difficult time.  A special thanks to her friend and neighbor Anita Red who went above and beyond for the past 5 years.

In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Grace Watkins and Pauline Cox; mother and father in law, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Lee Herring.
