Nellie Dean Parish

September 1, 1924 — May 7, 2019

Nellie Dean Miller Parish, 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her home. Born on September 1, 1924 in Monroe County she was a daughter to Will and Bell Hathcock Miller. She was raised in the Parham Community and attended Parham and Hatley Schools where she met the love of her life, James Noe Parish. Marrying shortly thereafter, he left for World War II, and she went to work for the Gulf Ordinance Plant in Prairie until it closed down. Upon returning from the war, Nellie and James built their home on Parish Drive where she lived and died on her own property. To help provide for her family and raising her children, she worked in the area garment plants. Nellie was able-bodied up until her death and she enjoyed working in her yard. Having a green thumb she could grow beautiful flowers and could root any type of plant. She enjoyed spending time with her family and often spoke about her living a good, long life, and because of her faith, she looked forward to the day she could go home to be with her heavenly father and her family who have gone before her. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and she enjoyed quilting and sewing. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro.
