Miriam Allison Marlar, a resident of the McKinney community, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born on June 29, 1930, to John Decatur Allison and Mary Rebecca (Dollar) Allison in Amory.Miriam’s journey took her to the historic Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, a place where she embraced education and lifelong learning. After completing her studies, she devoted herself to a career as a Congressional Secretary for Robert E. Jones, demonstrating dedication and passion for public service. Miriam was a member of the United Methodist Church in McKinney. She also cherished her memberships in the Congressional Secretaries Club and the Garden Club. She was known for her warm smile, kind words, and great love for her family. Miriam will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend always ready with a listening ear or an encouraging word. Her legacy of compassion and kindness will resonate in the heart of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Miriam will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. We find comfort in the memories we hold and the love she shared with each of us. Let us gather together to celebrate her life and the lasting impact she made in our community.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Allison M. Yanniello and husband, Ken, of McKinney; son, Christopher Marlar of Scottsdale; grandson, Jacob Marlar Siegel of Scottsdale; granddaughters, Laura Willcox and husband, Connor, and their son, Harlon Buck Willcox, of Lake Jackson, and Sarah Roberts and husband, Matthew, of Bountiful, Utah; sister, Rebecca Allison Fortenberry; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Shell Marlar; parents; John and Mary Allison; and siblings, John Wayne Allison, Jimmy Decatur Allison, Nancy Allison Bartram, and Carolyn Allison Burch.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Miriam will be laid to rest at Amory Masonic Cemetery.The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Graveside Service for Miriam will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Amory Masonic Cemetery.
