Michael John Murphy

Michael John Murphy, 57, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital—Golden Triangle in Columbus. Born May 6, 1959 he was a son of Robert and Mollie Fowlkes Murphy. Traveling extensively with the Merchant Marines, he enjoyed sailing and being out on the open water. His hobbies included attending parties, playing his guitar and singing. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home chapel in Amory. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the funeral home. Survivors include three sisters, J.C. Ellis (Bobby) of Harvest, Ala., Peggy Bell (Ralph) of Amory, and Joyce Murphy of San Diego, CA; nieces, Michelle Minor and Sarah Murphy; nephews, Lee Dunaway and Curt Bell; and close friends, Kevin Rye and Clayton Easter.
