Mavis Jessie Lee Allen, 96, entered the gates of Heaven in the early morning hours of February 9, 2023 from Diversicare Nursing Home in Amory. She was born on February 23, 1926 to James Garland and Mary Etta Guyton and on November 19, 1944, she married the love of her life, Samuel Verdo Allen. Prior to her retiring, she worked at Bluebell and for Red Kap. She loved gardening and quilting, but especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of First Assembly of God in Amory.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Phillip Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatley Cemetery.
Left to cherish her memories are her three sons, Ronnie Allen (Hazel), Amory, Randy Allen (Dale), Amory, and Ricky Allen (Anne) of Arkansas; three daughters, Belinda Jones (Gary), Shannon, Mary Laney (Dewayne), Amory, and Wanda Pannell (Doug), Amory; daughter-in-law, Wanda Allen, Amory; brother, Gary Lindsey; sister, Glenda Tate; 13 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Allen; one son, Marlin Allen; a grandson, Sam Allen; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Mark Allen, Scotty Allen, Jason Allen, David Jones, Wesley Robinson, and Bo Barrett.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.
