Lynn Shields

Jennifer Lynn Shields, 65, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home in Becker. While her father was stationed in Missouri, she was born on October 6, 1959, to Charles and Polly Jane Harris Gillespie. Lynn graduated from Smithville High School and obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Itawamba Community College. She married Danny Shields on February 16, 1979, and for 28 years, she worked as an LPN for Gilmore Memorial Hospital, moving through the entire Gilmore system. A devoted wife and mother, she loved spending time with her family, and she adored her grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing Yahtzee, and she was a fan of Crimson Tide football. Traveling to Florida with her sister was one of her favorite pastimes, and she enjoyed reading. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Durrett Cemetery.

He is survived by her husband of 46 years, Danny Shields; one son, Brian Shields of Becker; her daughter, Jennifer King and her husband, Randy, who was almost like a son; brothers, Mike Gillespie (Joan), Iowa, Paul Gillespie (Debbie), Amory, and David Armstrong, Amory; sister, Kathy Birchfield, Tupelo; her mother-in-law, Bobbie Reeves; 4 grandchildren, Calley Perry, Addie Raye Shields, Anthony King, and Camden Perry; great grandchild, Ryland Williams; Elizabeth Roberson, whom she loved like a daughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Reeci Armstrong and Cheryl Barksdale; one brother, Wesley Shields; and father-in-law, Ralph Reeves.

Pallbearers will be Andy King, David Robinson, Charlie Barksdale, Kevin Gray, Tyler Shields, and Brandon Childers.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
