Lona Elizabeth Riddle

Lona Elizabeth Riddle, 92, passed away on March 16, 2024 at Diversicare in Amory.  Lona was born on August 23, 1931 in Monroe County to the late Houston and Armatha Jane Fowlkes Cook.  A lifelong resident of Monroe County, she grew up in Hatley and attended Hatley School.  On May 31, 1947 she married Erman Mack Riddle and together they were blessed with 4 children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  In her early years she worked as a seamstress at Wilson Manufacturing and later for Amory Garment Co. where she worked for 36 years.  Lona loved reading, working word puzzles and watching her favorite game shows on T.V.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Armstrong (Larry), Anne Roberts, Regina Mize (Mark); grandchildren, Angela Nash, Stephen Armstrong (Salena), Chris Roberts (Karen), Laura Ellis (Bryan), Sarah Ferrell (Michael), John Blake Riddle; a host of great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and Debbie Tubb and Linda Hughes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erman Mack Riddle and her son, Donnie Mack Riddle.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Haughton Memorial Park in Amory with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating.  Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM.  Lona's family will serve as honorary pallbearers.  

Memorials may be given to New Hope Primitive Baptist Church.
