Smithville- Lola Jean Steele, 65, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at her residence in Smithville. Lola was born to James and Helen Jean Mullins Gordon on April, 23, 1953 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Spending most of her childhood and young adult life in West Memphis, AR she later moved to Amory. Before retirement, she worked at Jim and Jeans and Dairy Kream for over 30 years. Lola was gifted with her hands and enjoyed arts and crafts, making floral arrangements for several weddings and funerals. Deeply devoted to God, she was of the Pentecostal Faith and had previously attended the Amory Church of God. An excellent cook, Lola was in her happy place during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays cooking for all of her family and friends. Her last few years were spent at home with her beloved husband Robert, who was devoted to caring for Lola during her sickness, never leaving her side, and holding her hand as she passed into eternity to be with Christ forever.
She is survived by her husband Robert Steele, Smithville; sons, Michael Dodd, Smithville, Mark Dodd (Joan), Brim, AL and Nathan Sloan, Amory; sister, Milla Gay Walker, Etherdige, AL; brothers, Elton Wayne Kirby (Mary), Mountain Home, AR and Milton Morris (Ruby) Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jeremy Dodd, Silas Sloan, Shay Sloan and Zoey Sloan.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Gordon and Anita “Sissy” Stacy; nephew, Tony Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, November 19, 2018 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Owensby and Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will be in the Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Patterson, Larry King, Mark Dodd, Michael Dodd and Jeremy Dodd.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 18 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home from 5 PM-8 PM.
