Smithville- Linda Iris Newton Little, 76, died on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at The Meadows in Fulton. Born December 4, 1940 in Itawamba County, she was a daughter to William F. “Bill” and Una Sloan Newton. She grew up in the Peaceful Valley community and later graduated from Hatley High School. She married Herbert Little on April 7, 1962. A homemaker, she took great pride in raising her children while working for several years in the garment industry and later as a cook at BP. Before a stroke damaged her vision and speech, she enjoyed studying her Bible, singing, and playing the piano and she would raise her hands to heaven for “I’ll Fly Away.” She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Tim McMillen officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Herbert Little of Smithville; one daughter, Melanie Edwards (Bobby) of Smithville; one son, Tim Little (Amber) of Smithville; one brother, Perry Newton (Linda) of Amory; two sisters, Beverly Kemp (Melvin) of Amory and Gail Carter (Bobby) of Amory; 6 grandchildren, Anthony Little (Tiffany) Nathan Little, Rylan Little, Laycee Little, Malarie Sanderson (Bobby), and Breanna Edwards; 6 step-grandchildren, Kaylee Frederick, Tommy Joe Holland, Robert Edwards, Trinity Edwards, Bridget Cassell, and Alexia Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylin Little, Samuel Sanderson, and Arlee Sanderson; and 10 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two nephews, Barry and Kevin Sims.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Joe Holland, Bruce Pennington, Eddie Little, Anthony Little, Nathan Little, and Bobby Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Huey Little, and the staff of The Meadows in Fulton, they have been a true blessing.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
