Larry Spann

Larry Spann, 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  Larry was born in Monroe County on April 22, 1948 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna Louise Osborn Spann.  He was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1965.  Larry married the love of his life, Nina Graves on July 18, 1975.  For a number of years Larry was the General Manager of major appliance at Woolco.  Larry also had a longtime career as a truck driver, driving for Spann Construction, The Wax Company and Milan Trucking.  Everyone that knew Larry, knew he was a man of great faith and Godly devotion.  He was a lifelong member of New Hope Church of Christ.  He was also very supportive of his community and the people in the community.  Larry was always helping anyone in need.  He was also a devoted family man, enjoying every moment with his family that he had.  He was proud to have coached both his kids and grandkids in little league ball.  He also attended every high school game possible that they played in.  Larry also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Nina Spann; daughter, Lori Mills (Joey), Hatley; sons, Larry Spann (Kerri), Hatley and Brad Spann (Haley), Smithville; sister, Lana Phelps, Amory; brothers, Leslie Spann (Cathey), Smithville and Lloyd Spann (Pam), Hatley; grandchildren, Colby Mills, Chloe Mills, Cora Spann and Georgia Caroline Spann; brothers in law, George Graves (Tiffany), Brooksville and Scott Graves, Columbus; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Aaron Bullard.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Thompson; grandparents, William Donnie and Dellie Parham Osborn, William P. and Bertie M.P. Spann.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the New Hope Church of Christ with Ministers Ron Brown and Trevor Smoot officiating.  Congregational singing will be led by Mr. Monty McCormick.  Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mnty McCormick, Wayne Roebuck, Brandon Spann, Jared Spann, Joey Mills and Colby Mills.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Brown, Leslie Grant, Charles James, Herbert Parham, Aaron Bullard, Gerald Kent, Charles Marshall and Jerry Parham.

  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 12 noon until 1:45 PM.

Donations in Larry's memory may be given to the West Amory Church of Christ for the rebuilding efforts.
