Barbara Lanell Westmoreland, 85, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 at her home. Lanell was born on February 19, 1940 in Amory, MS to the late Chester and Clytie Scott Tubb. She attended Aberdeen Schools and married Raymond Westmoreland on September 1, 1956. Raymond and Lanell were blessed with 69 wonderful years together. Lanell was a devoted wife to Raymond and mother of 3 sons. She enjoyed being a homemaker full time . Lanell loved deeply and cooking for family and friends was definitely her love language. It could be around the family dinner table or at a church fellowship meal, Lanell’s food was always prepared with much love and received with great gladness. She also enjoyed sewing and took pride in quilting. She quilted a blanket for every child, grandchild and great grandchild! Her love will live on throughout many generations through these quilts she lovingly put together with her hands. Lanell was a faithful member of Becker Baptist Church and adored her church family.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Raymond Westmoreland, Aberdeen; sons, Raymond Michael Westmoreland (Bonnie), Carrollton, MS, David Wayne Westmoreland (Brenda), Liberty, AL, and Dr. Terry Westmoreland (Kim), Columbus, MS; sister, Donna Jean Ware, Starkville; grandchildren, Caleb Westmoreland (Kaitlyn), Carrie Stafford (Taylor), Cason Westmoreland , Brandi Westmoreland, Emily Holly (Peyton), Ashley Westmoreland, Leann Geddes (Daniel) and Shelly Hicks (Andrew); great grandchildren, Addyson Westmoreland, Noah Holly, Allie Grace Holly, John Abram Holly, Abry Holly, Asher Geddes, Maddie Rose Hicks, Stetson Geddes, Waverly Westmoreland, William Westmoreland and Riley Stafford.
Lanell is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Clytie Tubb; sister, Marsha Houk.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 with visitation preceding at 9:30 am at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Jason Green officiating. Pallbearers will be Caleb Westmoreland, Cason Westmoreland, Taylor Stafford, Andrew Hicks, Daniel Geddes, Peyton Holly, Noah Holly and John Abram Holly. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Becker Baptist Church and Mr. Bill Robinson.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be given to the Gideons International or to Becker Baptist Church.
