Judy Chumney

Judith Ann Brown Chumney, 71, passed away at her residence in the Carolina Community on Thursday, September 10, 2026.  She was born in Tupelo on March 5, 1955 to the late Otha and Mary Elizabeth Wren Brown.  Judy attended Carolina School and married Paul Chumney on September 29, 1983.  If you knew Judy, you know that she was an exceptional cook and loved to cook for others.  She and Paul raised a big garden each year and she enjoyed canning from her garden and canning for her friends and neighbors.  She was an exceptional homemaker and devoted herself to her family.  Judy was also a helper and sat with many elderly and sick throughout her life.  Never one to shy away from her beliefs and convictions, she didn't mind speaking the truth.  Judy enjoyed visiting, talking and being a friend and neighbor to many.  She was a member of Cason Baptist Church.

Judy is survived by her children, Teresa Vaughan (Jay), Hatley, Leah Anna Chumney White (Paul Wayne), Fulton, Jay Lauderdale, Nettleton, Hershel "Bubba" Ray Bennett (Elizabeth), Nettleton and Danny Chumney (Janet), Dorsey; brothers, Johnny Brown, Nettleton and Doug Brown, TN; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Judy is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Phillips, Francis Hawkins, Polly Conwill, O.W. Brown and Bobby Brown 

Funeral Services for Judy will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David Robinson, Paul Wayne White, Jay Vaughan, Timothy Paden, Brayden Scruggs and BoBo Patterson.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10 AM until the Service hour at 11 AM.
