J.C. Vaughn

J.C. Vaughn, 81, died on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. Born in Itawamba County on November 30, 1935 he was a son of Les and Estella Wallace Vaughn. J.C. attended Trace Road School and prior to his retirement, he was a farmer. He married Shirley Pierce and he enjoyed fishing, working on his tractors and other equipment, and taking care of his cats. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services for Mr. Vaughn will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Minister Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Vaughn of Amory; two daughters, Kimberly Simmons (Tommy) and Cynthia Vaughn both of Amory; one brother, Robert Vaughn of Amory; 4 grandchildren, Ashley, Cassidy, and Julianna Simmons, and Kreig Prenzlow; niece, Tammie Vaughn; and nephew, Robert Vaughn, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
