Elizabeth Jane Sanderson Walden, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory. She was born on August 14, 1944 in Lamar County, AL to the late Hobson Leon Sanderson, Sr. and Emily Orrean Stevens Sanderson. Jane was a graduate of Hatley High School and married Phil Walden on July 1, 1962. She was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride and care in making sure her home was always warm and welcoming to her family and friends. Jane was the epitome of selfless and enjoyed caring for others, earning the nickname, Mama Jane. When she wasn't caring for others, Jane enjoyed singing in church, watching game shows, gardening and cooking for her family. She attended Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. Once the grandchildren came along, her life was enriched by each one holding a special place in her heart.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Rene Harmon, Amory, Pam Thompson, Chattanooga, TN and Emily Fishwick, Columbus; brother Charlie Sanderson (Lynn) Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Hilary Collier (Matt) Marietta, GA, Hailey Acurio (Kevin) Austin, TX, Tristen Harmon, Amory, Anna Murray (Andy) Melbourne, FL, Madeline Hochstetler (Blake) Soddy Daisy, TN, Chance Fishwick, Columbus and Emma Fishwick, Columbus; great grandchildren, Birdie and Grady Collier, Marietta, GA; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Phil Walden; granddaughter, Sarah Beth Thorn; brothers, Hob Sanderson, Jr., Dick Sanderson, Phillip Wayne Sanderson and Tom Sanderson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 2 PM until 4PM at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home.
