Inez Cagle Baker

September 24, 1940 — January 31, 2023

Mary Inez Huggins Cagle Baker, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her home in Haleyville, AL surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 24, 1940 in Burnsville, she was the youngest child of Lonnie and Myrtle Reynolds Huggins.  She married James Cagle on November 22, 1958 who preceded her in death.  For 32 years, she was a seamstress for Monroe Trousers from where she retired.  She loved camping and riding in a ’34 Ford Golf Cart and going to Fan Fair.  She married Dean Baker on June 25, 2016 and she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Haleyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church in Haleyville with Bro. Richie Emerson and Bro. Tim Meherg officiating.  A committal service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville.  Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.  

 

In addition to husband, Dean Baker, she is survived by two sons, Tommy Cagle, Smithville and Terry Cagle (Lisa), Smithville; stepson, Tommy Baker (Carolyn), Haleyville; her daughter, Tena Cagle Powell (Brad), Gonzales, LA; grandchildren, Christena Powell Brignac, Patricia DeArmond Day, Kirk Powell, Dustin Cagle, and step grandson, Josh Baker (Tiffany); great grandchildren, Kyla and Lexi Brignac, Cullen DeArmond, Alyssa and Paisley Powell; step great grandchildren, Chloe and Caleb Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

 

A special thank-you goes to Gentiva Hospice, Jamie and Amanda, for their devoted care along with her sitters, Tammy Hulsey and Angie Baldy along with many others.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Cagle; and brothers, Jimmy, Albert, Junior, and Dexter Earl Huggins; and sisters, Savilla Baldy, and Erma Lee Whitlock.

 

Pallbearers will be Kirk Powell, Dustin Cagle, Cullen DeArmond, Tommy Baker, Scott Day, Andrew Green, and Johnny Fayette.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Powell and Johnny Fears.

 

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
