Herbert Parham

Herbert Lee Parham, 92, passed away in Tupelo on Monday, June 2, 2025.  Herbert was born January 8, 1933 in Quincy to the late Chap and Mary Roebuck Parham.  He was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1951 and married his sweetheart, Julia Rae Brown in 1952.  On May 13, 1953 Herbert was enlisted into the United States Army in Aberdeen, MS.  Herbert would end up as a Corporal serving with the 8th Army Headquarter BTRY 1 CORE ARTY in Korea during the height of the Korean Conflict.  He received his final payment from the Army in April of 1955 and made his way back to Parham Community in Monroe County where he would remain the rest of his life.  After returning home, Herbert and Boyd Fears began their own electrical service.  He would eventually begin a career that would span 32 years at Cramco, later becoming ITT Fabri Valve.  After retirement, Herbert couldn't sit still so be began transporting automobiles for Larry Clark Chevrolet.  

Herbert enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball and even more so enjoyed traveling with Julia to watch them play.  An outdoorsman, Herbert enjoyed fishing, especially at Grenada, Sardis and Enid lakes.  He was also a longtime member of Weaver Creek Hunting Club.  Herbert enjoyed being with his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.  He and Julia always looked forward to and enjoyed eating often at the Pickle Barrel. For the last few years Herbert lived at Traceway in Tupelo and looked forward to weekly Bingo with his buddy, Mr. Benny Waddle. Herbert was a kind and gentle man whose faith in God was the rule and guide for his life.  He was a longtime faithful member of the New Hope Church of Christ.

Herbert is survived by his daughters, Vicki Lee Parham Barksdale (Donald), Caledonia and Angela Parham Hall (Jeff), New Albany; son, Greg Parham (Karla), Mooreville; sister, Sherryel Parham Cooper, Amory; sister in law, Janet Pavalock (Mike), Cypress, TX; brother's in law, Jimmy Brown (Martha), Hatley and David Brown, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Nicholas Miller, Austin Hall, Brady Hall, Cooper Hall, Madison Parham, Maxwell Parham and Molly Parham; great grandchildren, Nolan Miller, Neely Miller, Nash Miller, August Hall and Emmett Hall; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Rae Parham; siblings, Mary Jo Young, Martha Faye Loden, Linda Pickle and Edward "Ebb" Parham.

Funeral Services for Herbert will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Mr. Leslie Grant officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in New Hope Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Nicholas Miller, Austin Hall, Brady Hall, Cooper Hall, Maxwell Parham, Donnie Barksdale and Blake Barksdale.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 11 AM until 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Pine Vale Children's Home 1872 CR 700 Corinth, MS 38834 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
