Miery Gene Kearce, 68, left this walk of life in the late evening hours of Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Gene, as he was known to everyone, was born on May 4, 1957 in Citra, FL to Miery Floyd Kearce and Mary Louise Wright Bohannon. He graduated Vanguard High School in Ocala, FL and later moved to Monroe County, MS in 1987. He was employed in the area garment industry and the City of Amory sanitation department for several years. Earlier he had worked for Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala in the grounds department. This experience gave him the perfect opportunity to gain employment at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Here he was a trusted and dedicated employee and considered everyone there as his family. Never a man took so great pride in his work as Gene Kearce, he made sure every detail at cemetery committal services were taken care of, and he was the right-hand man to Pete Randle at Haughton Memorial Park. After his retirement, he piddled with the Town of Smithville. A man who didn’t shirk work, he did enjoy some hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing. We would be remiss if his beloved Florida Gators were not mentioned and he loved to rub in a win they could achieve. Gene had a heart of gold and loved his family which he had scattered all over the southeast and looked forward to every opportunity with whom to spend time. He loved spoiling his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his aunt, Nita Hunt of Thomasville, GA; his brother, Keith Kearce (Michele), Amory; nieces, Angie Gregory (Edwin), Smithville, Melissa Giles, Ocala, FL, Tonya Monroe, Ocala, FL; Rhonda Revell (Adam-Gearjammer), Ocala, Faith Kearce, Amory, Kathy Kearce (Vick), Wanchese, NC, Sunshine Kennon, Paisley, FL; and nephew, William Ray Kearce, West Palm Beach, FL; a host of great, and great- great nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Pete and Julie Randle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Mickey Kearce; sister, Agnes Bennett; brothers, Darral Kearce, William Kearce, and Johnny Kearce.
No services will be conducted locally, and he will be buried at a later in Georgia and Florida.
