Gary Swan

Gary Thomas Swan, 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory. Gary was born in Amory on November 13, 1951 to the late Tommy and Beulah Elizabeth Miller Swan. He was a graduate of Hatley High School. From there, he attended ICC and Mississippi State University. Gary married Phyllis Clements, the love of his life. Gary retired from Monroe County. He and Phyllis enjoyed camping and traveling before her death and watching Mississippi State Football and Baseball. Gary and his son, Philip shared a close bond with each other, and they enjoyed time together hunting and fishing, especially when the grandchildren came along. Gary was a jokester and most of his jokes were directed toward Philip. He enjoyed riding the roads and spending time with Jimmy Puckett after Phyllis died. Gary was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his son, Philip Swan (Kati), Becker; sister, Wanda Simpson (Dell), Becker; brothers, Barry Swan, Hamilton and Jerry Swan (Martha), Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Charlea McCollum, Maddie Swan and Sadie Swan; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Clements Swan; grandson, Ty McCollum.

A memorial service will be held later.
