Amory- Donny Presley, 62 died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. Born March 15, 1953 he was a son of Merle and Rousie Sullivan Presley. He married Linda Monaghan on March 8, 1996. Donny grew up in Nettleton and was a graduate of Nettleton High School. After graduating, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked several years as a painter with Cook and Riley, later working as a self-employed painting contractor. Enjoying the outdoors, Donny loved working in his yard and having his sidekick Rudy with him, he also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great grandson Carson. Donny will be remembered as a generous, hardworking and determined person who fought a courageous battle against cancer until the very end.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Presley, Amory; son, Michael Cooper, Amory; sister, Vicky Ellis, Nettleton; grandchildren Cole Cooper and Kirsten Cooper, Amory; great grandson, Carson Cooper; sisters in law, Peggy Best (Jim), Becker and Mary Bright (Dale Motes), Amory; brother in law, Dewey Monaghan (Eva), Amory.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Linda Lann and Pam Wilson; 2 brothers, Larry Presley and David “Buddy” Presley.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Truman Carter and Bro. Scott Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Best, Jimmy Best, Bobby Kennedy,Dale Motes, Doug Merchant, Dell Lansdell and Jamie Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Merle Hipps, Dewey Monaghan, Michael Holder and Victor Armstrong.
Visitation will be Thursday Evening from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
