Dirk Lucas

Arthur Dirk Lucas, 70, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at his residence in Amory.  Dirk was born November 18, 1954 in Durham, NC to the late Arthur Earl Lucas and Betty Jean Fore Lucas.  On April 29, 1999 Dirk married Derenda Petty.  He had a longtime career with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks as a game warden.  Dirk proudly wore his badge and served with integrity, always doing the right thing and often times giving others the benefit of the doubt.  He was a firm believer in educating hunters and fishermen instead of writing a ticket on a first offense.  Dirk enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow game wardens and made many friends along the way, especially while he was MDWFP Lake Manager at Lake Monroe.  Dirk also enjoyed time at home, especially in finding peace and solitude while mowing and working on the property.

Dirk is survived by his wife, Derenda Lucas; daughters, Valerie Kimbrough (Andy) and Victoria Cross (Cody); son, Mitchell Lucas (Lori) and his special son and little Buckaroo, Conner Stanford; brothers, Garry Fore, Jimmy Lucas and Mark Lucas; grandchildren, Ethan Kimbrough, Dylan Kimbrough, Amelia Lucas, James Lucas and Rose Lucas; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dirk is preceded in death by his mother in law, Helen Petty.

A private family service will be held later.
