David L. “Pete” Randle passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Amory, Mississippi, at North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore. He was born on January 27, 1939, to the late Clovis Sale Randle and Francis Christine Atkins Randle of Aberdeen, Mississippi. While growing up in Aberdeen, he was a member of the Aberdeen Christian Church and was a student in the Aberdeen Public School District. Pete was a proud 1957 graduate of Aberdeen High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. As a senior, he was a member of the “A Club,” elected to Who’s Who as cutest, most versatile, and biggest flirt, and was named to the All-Little Ten Football Team. After graduation he attended Itawamba Junior College, where he played football and baseball from 1957 to 1958. He was inducted into the Itawamba Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.

Pete was married to Julia “Julie” Ann Pickle Randle for nearly 70 years, and they lived in Amory, Mississippi. He joined the membership of First Baptist Church after moving to Amory.

Pete was an officer with E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Inc. and worked as a funeral director, insurance agent, and an owner and operator of Haughton Memorial Park. He was appointed as a member to the Amory Housing Authority Board in 1983, where he later began serving as chairman in 1989. He retired in June 2025. He was also elected as a member of the Monroe County Election Committee in 1992 and began serving as secretary in 1995. He served 7 terms, retiring in December 2020.

Pete worked as a high school and college football, baseball, and basketball official for 35 years and was a member of the Mississippi High School Activity Association (MHSAA); assigning secretary of District I basketball; assigning secretary of District I baseball; and was selected MHSAA Official of the Year in 1996. He was a member of the Junior College Football Officials Association for 16 years; president of the Junior College Officials; football and basketball official for junior college for 10 years; and a member of the Gulf South Basketball Officials for 6 years. He also officiated Mississippi State Baseball and Women’s and Men’s Basketball. Pete enjoyed coaching American Legion Baseball in Amory for 6 years and was an avid golfer and sports fan.

Pete is survived by his wife, Julie, and their four children, Laurie Randle Henderson and husband, David, of Carthage; David Randle and wife, Renea, of Amory; Ann Randle Roberts, of Amory; and Lynn Randle Millender, and husband, David, of Amory. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Pickle Reed, of Amory; and Tonya Pickle Peterson, and husband, Paul, of Amory; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sale and Christine Randle; his father-in-law, Guy R. Pickle, and mother-in-law, Evelyn Jones Pickle; his brother, Silas Randle and sister-in-law, Alicia Gomez Randle; his sister, Ann Randle Raymond Phillips, and brothers-in-law, Hank Raymond and Bob Phillips; his brother, Sale “Buddy” Donald Randle; and his brother-in-law, Guy Warren Pickle.

A celebration of Pete’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Amory. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Burial will be at Amory Historical Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gunnar Hall, Will Hall, John Mark Henderson, Andrew Jones, Brian McCollumn, Billy Millender, Alex Middleton, Matthew Randle, and Michael Randle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Atkins, William Dean Atkins, Carl Cadden, Bobby Ferguson, Jason Gallop, Rick Hill, David Hodo, Larry Marett, Donnie McKay, Dickie Miller, Tommy Parish, Jimmy Reece, James Tate, Mac Alan Thomas, Mike Tyree, and Jim Walden.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Tawana Robinson, Cindy Comer, and Tina Dixon and to the staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore and North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Care.
