James Daniel “Danny” Coleman, Jr. passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love for his family.
Danny was a devoted husband to Verna Coleman and a loving father and grandfather whose family meant everything to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Coleman, Sr.; his mother, Peggy Coleman; his son, Danny Russell Coleman; his sister in law; Dorothy Harlow; and brother in law Allan Clay.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Danny served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and Gideon, faithfully living out his Christian faith through service and leadership.
He graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education and worked for Scribner Equipment Company as farm manager in the farm division. Agriculture was his lifelong passion, especially cattle, and he was honored as Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer and State Outstanding Cattleman.
Danny loved western movies, cheering for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, ice cream, and dressing sharply every Sunday. In his younger years, he enjoyed snow skiing and playing basketball.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracey (Nelson); grandchildren, Cole Riddle (Rebecca), Rebecca Riddle, and Dani Nolley (Andy); great-grandchildren, Briggs Riddle, Lainey Riddle, Bryan Nolley, and Lila Ruth Nolley; his sister, Betty Turnage (Rollin); brother-in-law, Jimmy Harlow; nieces and nephews, Leigh Ann McGonagill (Brian), Theresa Clay, and Mark Clay (Julie); and special friends, Dennis and Sassy Pritchard, and Jerry Lee and Patsy Frederick.
Danny will be remembered for his steady faith, love of family, and the example he set for all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, march 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Amory Historical Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Coleman Riddle, Russ Farrar, Dylan McGonagill and Bryan McGonagill. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Pritchard, Jerry Fredrick, Jimmy Harlow, Rollin Turnage and the Deacons of First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 AM until the service hour at 11 AM.
