Daniel "Jeff" Dodd

February 19, 1940 — May 1, 2026

Verona

Daniel "Jeff" Dodd, 86, entered into his Heavenly reward on Friday, May 1, 2026 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  He was born in Aberdeen on February 19, 1940.  At a young age, Daniel learned the value of a strong work ethic and hard work by working on the family farm.  His family moved to Missouri where they continued to farm.  On June 14, 1967 Daniel married his soulmate, Vickie Zappa.  Together they had a marriage that would span nearly 59 years, 4 children and a host of grands and great grands.  Daniel would tell anyone that Vickie was the person that God had ordained for him to marry.  Daniel and Vickie's marriage and family was built on the foundation of God's word that they stood strong on.  If you were around Daniel for just a moment, the conversation always began with the Word of God.  He spent countless hours testifying of the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ and point all to him.  Daniel was a builder in God's Army while he was also a builder in his career also.  He was a member of the carpenters union.  In 1978 he moved his wife and family back to North Mississippi and worked on the construction of the Tenn Tom Waterway.  At the age of 47 he started his own roofing company and instilled the value and importance of hard work into his sons and his daughter.  Daniel enjoyed traveling to Mexico on Mission Trips and woke up each day with a song in his heart.  Daniel loved to garden where he would see the promise of God that if you are faithful to plant the seed, God will always grow the plants and give the harvest, just as he did with his children.  Daniel was a longtime member of Traceland  Missionary Baptist Church.  He cherished time spent with his family.  Daniel leaves behind a solid and lasting legacy of devotion to God and love towards his family and friends.

Daniel is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Vickie Dodd, Verona; daughter, Rhoda Tucker (Mitch), Wren; sons, Daniel "Jody" Dodd (Angie), Wren, David Dodd (Rachel), Amory and Jeffrey Dodd (Tonya) Cape Coral, FL and Donald Tygett who he loved as a son; sisters, Ella Mae Stroupe, Wren, Ruby Smith, Wren and Emma Ambrose of Bossier City, LA; brother, Gennie Dodd (Faye) Wren; grandchildren, Kayla Jaco, Joe Dodd, Alan Dodd, Parker Dodd, Kylie Strong, Colton Tucker, Tori Tucker, Makenzie Moffett and Ethan Dodd; great grandchildren, Kenzlie, Benjamin, Lyric, Adali, Victoria, Avery and soon to be here, Noah; a host of nieces and nephews and his faithful companion and beloved dog, Lily.
