Dan Reed, 75, died on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Born June 5, 1941 in Sulligent, he was a son to John and Geneva Whitehead Reed. Dan grew up in Macon, Georgia later moving to Monroe County and marrying Peggie Clark in 1960, they owned and operated a small family furniture and fabric business. His hobbies included fishing and raising chickens and ducks. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Eddie Clayton officiating. Visitation will follow after the service. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Peggie Reed of Becker; two sons, Daniel Reed of Cape Coral, Fla. and Glenn Reed (Heather) of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Teresa Dale (Johnny) of Becker and Karen Martin of Amory; two brothers, Larry Reed (Susan) of Vernon, and Don Reed (Donna) of Priestville; 4 sisters, Peggy Morrison of Sulligent, Pearly Whitaker of Tuscaloosa, Rebecca McDuffie of Vernon, and Patsy Hester of Sulligent; three grandchildren, Alisa Bynum (Brad), Johnny Dale (Aleshia), and Candy Moore; 7 great grandchildren, John Isaac Dale, Skylar Dale, Alandra Dale, Liam Dale, Noah Moore, Kylee Lundquist, and Remington Bynum; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Lynn Reed; and two grandchildren, Danny Reed and Brannon Dale. Memories and condolences may be expressed at clevelandmoffettfuneralhome.com
