Carolyn Wigginton

Carolyn Virginia Monaghan Wigginton, 68, died on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her sister’s residence in Amory. Born April 3, 1947, she was a daughter of Shelby and Ruby Virginia Laney Monaghan. A graduate of Amory High School, she worked as a business clerk for South Central Bell and was also a medical transcriptionist for several area doctors and clinics most recently working with Access Family Health in Smithville. She married Roger Wigginton who preceded her in death on June 27, 2015. Known for a great sense of humor, she was also a MSU sports fan and especially enjoyed MSU baseball and the Chicago Cubs. Her hobbies included crocheting, Pomeranians, and Rolling Stones music. She cherished the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren. A woman of great faith, she was a member of the Meadowood Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one son, Scott Wigginton of Amory; one brother, Dewey Monaghan (Eva Grace) of Amory; two sisters, Peggy Best (Jim) of Becker, Mary Bright of Amory, and Linda Presley (Donnie) of Amory; two grandchildren, Brandon Wigginton of Starkville and Alison Clayton (Kevin) of New Albany; and a host of other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Frances Hester, Joyce Chism, and Patsy Camp; son, Alan Wigginton, and niece, Janet Best Bilyeu. Pallbearers will be Randall Wigginton, Scott Parkhurst, Bryan Camp, Jim Best, Jimmy Best, and Frank Owen. Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and she will lie in state from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.
