Carolyn Koenig

October 31, 1942 — August 11, 2025

Carolyn Barbara Haas Koenig passed unexpectedly on Monday, August 11, 2025. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa to the late Barbara Reh Haas and late George C Haas on Oct 31, 1942. After graduation from Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh, she moved to Madison, Ohio. In 1971 Carolyn was married to Frank Koenig, who was employed at True Temper in Ohio and later transfered to Amory in 1978.

Carolyn actively participated in the Amory community and was well admired and loved. She was presented the Amory Outstanding Citizen Award and over the years was very involved in her daughters' swim teams, in Fidelia club, Amory Junior Auxiliary, and Stars over Mississippi.

Carolyn enjoyed bridge, and the long open discussions that ensued with playing; visiting the beach, especially Panama City Beach, where the family would visit once a year for many years; and known for her infamous homemade breads/coffee cakes that were enjoyed by many. She was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church serving on Parish Council and several parish ministries. She was vital in overseeing and organizing the Angel tree and Christmas Joy projects which provided Christmas gifts to those underserved.

She was a woman who loved to waterski in her young days; to travel, especially to Germany to visit the Christmas markets; and to listen to all sorts of music especially Rod Stewart and Jimmy Buffet.

She loved her animals especially Kunie, her cocker spaniel, Oink, the potbelly pig, and Rudy, the shelter dog. She would always say "they make me so happy".

Her greatest source of happiness, however, were her two grandchildren, Maggie and Carol Lynn Fears . They made her so proud and very happy.

Carolyn was like a second mom to many. She was blessed to have many friends for she touched their hearts with compassion and love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ernest Koenig, her daughter Sandra Koenig Fears, her stepchildren Frankie Koenig and Heather Koenig Gupta in addition to her parents.

She is survived by daughter Barbara Marie Koenig, grandchildren Maggie Louise and Carol Lynn Fears of Smithville, sisters Linda and Janis Reh and a best friend Jean Pinkley along with dear friends.
