Carolyn Dahlem

December 1, 1946 — December 23, 2025

Linda Carolyn Murphy Dahlem, 79, passed December 23, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, She was born on December 1, 1946 to the late Ralph Murphey and Edith Mae Parham at her home in the Parham Community.

Carolyn was a graduate of Hatley High School.  She retired as an assistant teacher at Hatley School and became a beloved figure among her students. She enjoyed watching them grow into accomplished adults, always enjoying the moments when former students would reconnect with her, sharing their journeys and successes.

Carolyn was a longtime hair dresser and owned and operated her beauty shop, Hair Country.  She always enjoyed visiting with her clients.  Carolyn enjoyed being in the outdoors, where she found joy tending to her garden, particularly her cherished daylilies and a great love for African violets. When her health permitted, she enjoyed traveling, especially with the birthday group. She spent many days watching QVC and loved to order all kinds of things for her family.  In 2006 Carolyn married Jimmy Dahlem and for the last 19 years Jimmy tended to her every need and made sure that her life was filled with love and happiness.  Jimmy and Carolyn both were both devoted college basketball fans and they loved traveling to cheer on their favorite teams at SEC basketball games and watched many more games together on the television.

Carolyn also took great pride in her handmade creations; she was an expert seamstress and could sew anything from clothes to curtains and crocheted afghans with love, gifting them to family and friends with each stitch woven with care. She also enjoyed quilting.  A faithful and devoted Christian, Carolyn's trust lay in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She was a member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church and also attended New Hope Baptist Church.  Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at home with the Lord and anticipates the day they will meet her again on that beautiful shore.

Carolyn's family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Dahlem, Parham Community; her daughter, Leigh Ann Wright (Ben), Hatley; her son, Steven Ray Cole (Magen), Parham Community; her granddaughters, Carli Leech (Coleman) and Emma Wright; her grandson, Cash Hudson; and her brothers, Phil Moore (Lisa) and James Murphey (GiGi), along with her sister, Tammy Whitehead (Gilbert), and her sister, Doris Riddle.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Moore; her father, Ralph Murphey; her first husband, Albert Cole; her beloved grandparents, Raymond and Ruby Parham, and Frank and Mellie Murphey; and her sister, Shirley Phillips.
