Brenda "Mim" Pate

Charlotte Brenda Kennedy Pate, 81, passed away at NMMC in Tupelo on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.  She was born in Itawamba County on August 28, 1944 to the late Houston Wilson Kennedy and Amy Lera Upton Kennedy.  Mim was born into a large family and at a young age she learned the sacrifice and love for family.  Mim's love for her family would serve as her guiding light her entire life.  She married Frank Pate on November 30, 1957.  She and Frank's love would continue until his death in 2009.  They enjoyed dancing in the kitchen and playing cards.  Mim was a friendly face and kind soul at the Country Kitchen in Amory for the last 15 years where she worked alongside her daughter.  She loved all of the guests at the cafe and made numerous friends along the way.  Mim enjoyed gardening and was a master when it came to crocheting.  She loved family dinners with her family, especially when the grands and great grands came along.  She was also an avid reader of John Grisham novels.

Mim is survived by her daughters, Donna Haas (Calvin), Saltillo and Kim Steele (John), Amory; sister, Debra Kennedy, Itawamba County; grandchildren, Charlotte Jones, Jessica Bond (Jeff), Toria Neal (Brandon), Kelsey George (Josh), Pate Hall, Nick Haas, Chloe Hall and Maegan McKee; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mim is preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Hall; siblings, Basil Kennedy, Russell Kennedy, Pam Leathers and Eugene Kennedy.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Pastor Rick Myers and Bro. Keith Ital officiating.  Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Pate Hall, Nick Haas,  Aiden Neal, Dylan Neal, Brandon Neal and Jeff Bond.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10 AM until 11:45 PM.
