Billy Coker, Sr.

Billy Wayne Coker, Sr., 63, passed away at his residence in Amory on Saturday, January 17th, 2026. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late Connie Reed Coker and Virginia Frances Jernigan Coker on April 18th, 1962.  Billy grew up in Tennessee and Arkansas, eventually moving to Smithville when he was in high school. Billy married the former Melissa Tomlin on March 7th, 1980. He had a long-time career which began at Air Cap and worked through 2 mergers to MTD and later Black and Decker, retiring as a supervisor in 2024. He took great pride in his work and was a wonderful provider for his family.  He enjoyed riding the back roads while listening to old country music.  If you knew Billy, you knew that he was a diehard Chevrolet truck fan. If it did not have a bow tie on the front of it, he would not drive it.  He took great pride in his trucks, meticulously keeping them clean and shined up.   He was a devoted husband and father, who took pride and joy in his children. Billy's family was his world and when his granddaughter Taylor came along, she made his life even more meaningful. Billy also enjoyed being in the outdoors camping and was a devoted Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He was of the Baptist faith.

Billy is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Melissa Coker of Amory; his daughter, Leanne Lindsey and her husband Nick of Amory; his granddaughter, Taylor Coker and her fiancee TJ Holland. Billy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Coker Jr.; his brothers, Greg and Jamie Coker; his mother-in-law, Donna Tomlin.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday January 20th, 2026 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 11 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM.

Donations may be given in Billy's memory to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
