Betty Cook Childers, 67, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at North Mississippi Medical Center – Gilmore in Amory. Betty was born on January 28, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Paul and Alice Ridings Cook.
She was a phenomenal cook who found great joy in preparing meals for the people she loved. Cooking was one of the many ways she showed her love, and nothing made her happier than having her family gathered around the table.
Her two sons were her pride and joy, but when her grandchildren came along, that love grew beyond measure. Being a grandmother brought her a special kind of happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved fur babies, whom she loved and cared for dearly.
She was a woman of Christian faith who loved the Lord and enjoyed attending North Mississippi Worship Center in Wren, Mississippi. Above all, she will be remembered for her love of family, the joy she found in caring for those closest to her, and the countless memories she leaves behind.
Betty is survived by her husband of over 48 years, Mike Childers; sons, Jeremy Wilson (Jennifer) of Hatley and Wayne Childers (Blair) of Smithville; 7 grandchildren; Alexis Wilson, Allyssa Holmes, Bryson & Della Wilson, Cullen Minor, Callie Ruth & Morgan Childers; sister Paula Cook; brother Michael Cook; two sister in laws Joan Sawyer & Sandy Nicholson (Tony); several nieces, nephews, special friend, Rebecca Emery of Tuscan, AZ.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alice Cook; aunt and uncle, Joe and Faye Ridings; niece, Nikki Reeves and her beloved puppies, Binky, Lucy and BJ.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at North Mississippi Worship Center with Bro. Jimmy Winders officiating. Burial will follow in Tranquil Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryson Wilson, Cullen Minor, Isaac Coggins, TC Coggins, Tony Nicholson and Murff Cook. Honorary pallbearer will be Patrick Sawyer.
