Betty Jewell White Ayala, 73, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Amory on May 5, 2026. She was born in Red Bay, Alabama on April 15, 1953 to the late Ezra Yale White and Velma Iris Vinson White. Betty attended both Tremont and Fulton Schools. She married Augustine Ayala in the early 1990’s. Betty worked as a seamstress in the area garment industry. She was also a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. Betty was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting and visiting the nursing homes. More than anything, Betty loved her Lord. She always had a song in her heart and loved to sing and praise Jesus. Betty never ended a conversation without saying something encouraging and testifying of her faith. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Betty will be fondly remember for her smile, positive attitude, heart full of love and unwavering faith in God.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Beverly Griggs, Amory and Denice Morgan (Jimmie), Amory; sister, Carolyn Frederick (Bob), Fulton; brothers, Roy White (Joan), Fulton, Albert White, Lampasas, TX and Eddie White (Renna Todd), Southaven; grandchildren, Whitney Griggs (Mack Montgomery), Katy, TX, Williams Griggs, Houston, TX, Alaina Griggs, Amory, Gabby Morgan Park (Ethan), Amory Katherine Morgan Sims (Jeremy), Amory and Shelby Morgan, Amory; great grandchildren, Ja'Kira Griggs, Bronson Griggs, Liza Park, Mason Park and Allyn Sims; 13 nephews and 8 nieces; special friends, Linda Holloway, Sandra Cox, Rosita Brown, Gisela White and Sandra Rayburn; special niece, Debbie White.
In addition to her parents and spouses, Walter Earl Griggs and Agustine Ayala, Betty is preceded in death by her siblings, Lil Jimmy White, Bobbie White, Rayburn White and Mary White Bennett; sister in law, Joyce White.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Phil Benton and Bro. Jason Green officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt White, Anthony Bennett, Sam White, Cliff Allen, Ethan Park and Marc Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8 at the funeral home from 5-7 PM.
