Bernice Towery Lloyd

Bernice Lee Towery Lloyd, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at River Place Nursing Center in Amory.  She was born in Detroit,, Alabama on June 7, 1941 to the late Cluster and Pearlie Johnson Towery.  Bernice attended Smithville School, worked in the area garment industry and housekeeping at the hospital and nursing homes.  Bernice married James D. Northington and together, they had one son, Brett Northington.  Bernice was a proud and doting wife and mother.  Ultimately, James would pass from an automobile accident.  Bernice later married Kelly Lloyd, who passed in 2006.  She was deeply devoted to her family and loved to cook for them.  Everyone always looked forward to her chicken and dumplings.  Bernice enjoyed sewing and tending to her flowers.  She loved time with her family and enjoyed spoiling her great grandchildren.  Bernice was a member of North Boulevard Christian Church.  

Bernice is survived by her son, Brett Northington, Amory; sister in law, Mavis Towery, Smithville; grandchildren, Jamie Snyder (Caleb), Amory, Helen Mackey (Michael), Fulton and Chasitie King, Guntown; great grandchildren, Emily and Abigail Snyder, Britney Northington, Jaxon and Dawson King, Audrey and Oliver Barnett.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Bernice is preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Bridges, Eddie, RC, WC and Bobby Joe Towery; daughter in law, Sindy Northington; great grandson, Matthew Northington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Steve Logan officiating.  Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Austin Towery, Caleb Snyder, Michael Mackey, Keith Towery, David Carter and Jeff Brown.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the funeral home from 5-7 PM.
