Amory

Amanda Cathcart McNeese, 48, overcame her physical struggles of this world and entered her eternal home on Monday, March 4, 2024 from her home in Amory.  She was born on February 23, 1976 to David “Butch” Cathcart and Martha Scott Betts.  Raised by her mother and step-father, Jesse Betts, she was a lifelong resident of the Amory area.  She graduated from Hatley High School and earned an associate’s degree from ICC.  She later attended Vaughn’s Beauty College in Aberdeen and became a licensed cosmetologist.  Mandy was a beautifully talented song writer and an accomplished pianist.  She loved singing, doing arts and crafts, and spending time with her family.  A member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, she had a deep and abiding faith in God, and she knew the great responsibility of teaching children the Bible and having a love for God’s Word.  She taught drama and headed up church plays.  She had previously worked for McDonald’s in Amory for 18 years and was manager for 13.   An amazing mother, daughter, and sister, she loved fiercely, and bravely met adversity.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting Star Wars memorabilia.
