Patrick Francis Clemens, 77, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home in Amory. Born August 12, 1938, in Biloxi, he was a son of Jules L. “Julee” and Mary Evelyn Wiltz Clemens. Pat graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon in 1956 and attended Mississippi State University before proudly enlisting in the U.S. Army where he worked as aircraft mechanic attached to the 55th Transportation Company in Fairbanks, AK. During this time, he married Dorothy Lou “Dot” Moffett in June, 1961. Prior to his retirement, Pat proudly worked for 38 years with Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss. and was superintendent of the hull department and was known as a true “Mr. Fix-it” that loved to work. He was an avid competitive shooter having received his Master classification in silhouette shooting; loved to coach youth in sports especially football and shooting; and loved to sponsor camping trips for the youth and with Catholic Youth Organization. Having a deep conviction of faith, Pat was formerly a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Pascagoula and most recently a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Amory where he served in all capacities he could including as a Lay Minister and administering communion to shut-ins. His hobbies included traveling especially on cruises and playing dominoes with his buddies, but most of all he cherished the time with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon on Monday, April 11 at the St. Helen Catholic Church in Amory with Fr. Tim Murphy and Fr. Antony Chakkalakkal officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy “Dot” Clemens of Amory; 4 sons, Gregory Clemens (Sherri) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Dr. Chris Clemens (Georgie) of Chapel Hill, NC, Jonathan Clemens (Becky) of Pass Christian, MS, and Geoffrey Clemens (Eve) of Pascagoula, MS; one sister, Myrna Jordan of Long Beach, MS; 14 grandchildren, Marguerite, Jules, Genevive, Rebecca, Nick, Jack, Gus, Henry, Thomas, Emily, Bailey Catherine, Jake, Will, and Mary Amelia Clemens; a host of other relatives; Joe Hester, Paul Riley, David Hipps and his domino buddies along with a special thanks to his doctors. Pallbearers will be Jules Clemens, Nick Clemens, Jake Clemens, Gus Clemens, Thomas Clemens, Jack Clemens, Will Clemens, and Adrian Moffett. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Clemens, Stewart Keene, Joe Hester, Paul Riley, David Hipps and the rest of the domino crew. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Rosary Service following at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD, 57770-2100 or www.recloudschool.org
