Amory- Jewell Holley Tibbetts, 87, died Friday, August 5, 2016 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory. Born in Amory on March 3, 1929 she was a daughter of John Henry and Gena Mae Derrick Puckett. She grew up in Hatley and Graduated from Hatley High School with honors. An excellent student, Jewell helped numerous people with their studies in school. Working as a substitute teacher, she is most remembered for letting her students do sand art. With her heart being in Hatley, she was the first Post Mistress at the Hatley Post office and later owned Holley’s Country Store in Hatley. Having a mathematical mind, she kept books for several area businesses and done personal tax returns for numerous years. A longtime member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, she loved traveling to church events with her dearly loved church family. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, camping, singing and being a part of the famous “Red Hat Club”, winning several times for having the prettiest red hat. Spending time with her family was the best part of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Lola Stanford (Bobby), Amory, Eileen Waddle (James), Greenwood Springs, Maxine Holley McMillan (Eddie), Amory, Peggy Holley, Amory, Melissa Parham (Elzie), Hatley and Katie Easter, Amory; son, Orein Holley (Anita), Hamilton; brother, Dr. William Mattison (Sylvia), Amory; sister in law, Maxine Puckett (Scooba); former daughter in law, Teresa Tribble Holley; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous foster children she raised as her own and her 2 special table friends at Oak Tree, Ruby McCullough and Hortense Palmer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 husbands, John Holt and Linder Tibbetts; brothers, Boyd Puckett, John Henry Puckett and David Puckett. Her Funeral Service will be held at 3pm Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bailey Doolittle, Brad Tidwell, Austin Stanford, Jim Waddle, John Waddle and Eric Stanford. Her great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm. Condolences may be shared online at clevelandmoffettfuneralhome.com.
