Buddy Harrison

September 13, 1937 — June 4, 2019

Mr. William Lee “Buddy” Harrison, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Amory. Born in Florence, Alabama, he was a son to Lee Harrison and Elizabeth Holman Harrison Crowder. Buddy was a 1954 graduate of Hatley High School and he was married to the former Janice Vaughan. Prior to his retirement, Buddy worked for Reese Dairy for 26 years and for True Temper Sports for 18 years before his health began to fail. A superior athlete, he loved to play softball in his younger years and he enjoyed any type of spectator sport and loved anything to do with the Hatley Tigers or the Ole Miss Rebels. Countless stories could be told about Buddy’s practical jokes which he pulled on a number of friends and coworkers. Buddy was a faithful member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ and had served as a deacon in his former years. Funeral services for Buddy will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bobby Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Janice Harrison, he is survived by one son, Brenson Lee Harrison of Tupelo; one daughter, Tanya Harrison Parker of Portland, TN; grandchildren, Jeremy Robertson (Shea), Kristin Vuncannon (Tyler), and Sami Parker; great grandchildren, Ella Reese Vuncannon and Ethan and Will Robertson; one brother, Thomas Harrison (Eloise) of Amory; one sister, Ann Crowder (Vince) of Florence, AL; brother-in-law, Lavies Vaughan (Margaret; and sister-in-law, Natasha Ashcraft (Melvin). He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Harrison and Elizabeth Harrison Crowder; his stepfather, Carl Crowder; his mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Ellene Vaughan; and daughter-in-law, Karen Harrison. Pallbearers will be Charlie Ashcraft, Marty Cantrell, Nick Hathcock, Jim Cook, Gray Harrison, Van Pearson, and Lewis Sanders.
